Good morning. Welcome to Axios today. It's Thursday, March 4. I'm Naila Budu. Here's what we're

0:10.6

covering today. The Biden Administration's plan to fight domestic terrorism. Plus, how professional

working parents are finally getting help from their employers. But first, decoding diplomacy

0:22.6

with Iran is today's one big thing.

The Biden Administration has been making overtures to Iran as part of a way to negotiate

0:35.8

a path back to the 2015 nuclear deal the Trump administration pulled out of. But the diplomatic

withdrew the U.S. request that was given by the Trump administration to the UN Security Council

1:37.6

to snap back all UN sanctions on Iran. But it was really a more, let's say, a symbolic message

1:44.8

1:50.4

Meanwhile, how are you seeing the U.S. and Iran engaging in proxy diplomacy through actions

1:57.3

that are being taken with allies? Well, if we thought that the diplomatic efforts are stuck,

2:05.2

then on the ground in the Middle East, in Iraq, in Syria, in the Gulf, tensions are just getting

2:13.1

higher and higher. Less than a week ago, the U.S. went on a military strike. I think the first

2:19.0

military strike by the Biden administration in the Middle East against Shia militias that are
