Today's talk comes from Pastor Ben Stewart.

Well, I grew up in Texas, which of course means that I played football in high school.

I think it was a requirement in the 80s.

But I remember one particular year that we were doing two a days in the summer.

That's where you practice twice a day.

And you're learning all

the tactics, how to hit, how to block, how to catch, how to throw. And we're learning strategy.

Here's our playbook and here's what we're going to do to beat the team we're going to face.

And so two a days in the summer and then practices as school began over and over again,

preparing for game day. And yet I'll never forget showing up at game day. And, you know,

like you've been doing football every day. But something different kind of happens when you get

into the moment. And you step into the stadium with all the seats around and suddenly you put

the game day jersey on and the Friday night lights come on. It's a little intimidating.

And I remember there was one year,

the details are a little hazy, I think it was from the headshots, but I remember there was one

year where a guy, like, first play, we're playing this team, and he just gets popped, he gets

nailed. And I remember this guy walking off the field and just with a look of shock on his face,

like totally perplexed. Like Mike Tyson talked about

with boxing. Like everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. And that was this guy.

He just looked like, I thought I knew what I was doing. And I remember he came off to the side
