This is the Brand and Sherry podcast. I think it's true when people criticize a lot of religious people and say, boy, it's just judgmental. I think there's a lot of truth in that. But you know what? The whole world is judgmental. It really is. And Sherry pointed this out. She saw a really sweet picture. It's a dad with his two little girls, but the dad is playing with a, like, a handheld video game?

Yeah. Actually, I think he's maybe playing, like, PS3 or something. He's got a controller in his hand.

Yeah. And his little girl, one of his little girls is snuggled up next to him on his side. And then he has his feet up on the coffee table, and the other little girl is painting his toenails. And he said something like a normal day as dad or something like that. Very sweet picture. And then comments started like, why don't you put down, you know, the controller and pay attention to your girls. You don't want to engage a little bit with your kids. And I thought, oh, my goodness. And this is not in the context of anything religious no this is just people being people yeah and they'll people jump your case

you know what's really interesting it's it always reveals more about the commenter than what

you're commenting on yes very true always and that includes encouragement to me when I get

encouragement I always feel like it says more about the person who's encouraging me. I agree.

Than what I, they're actually encouraging in me.

Like, what a graceful person.

Yeah.

So look past all the messups I do on the air and when I come off wrong and still encourage me.

It says something about you.

Same thing with this.

Somebody's mad, probably, because they have a husband or a dad or somebody who just won't put the controller down.

Right.

And so they're going to take it out of this guy.

I really think it's what's going on.

I think a lot of times our reaction says a lot more about us.

One of the wonderful things about Jesus is he sets us free from this constant having to live up the standards.

And it's not just religious standards.

It's like the world. I can't imagine being a woman in this culture, trying to live up to the standards that are constantly being thrust in front of me. It's non-stop. And it's from a thousand different angles. It's not just how good of the shape you're in. it's your hair. What about your eyelashes?

I never think about my eyelashes.

There's whole commercials about eyelashes. There's eyebrows stores. Are you a mother? Are you not a mother? Oh my goodness. Just getting started. What about your career? What about your master's degree? Did you get your PhD? Wait you didn't do that. Do you want to do this? It just never ends. It just never ends.
