On this day in 1967, 24-year-old Barbara Ann Hackman Taylor, was murdered.

For 30 years, her body remained unidentified, and she was simply referred to as Tent Girl, thanks to the material covering her corpse. Welcome to Today in True Crime, a parcast original.

Let's go back to the cold evening of December 6th,

1967 in Lexington, Kentucky.

America was in turmoil.

The Vietnam War raged overseas and protests against the war raged at home.

Older conservatives and young hippies talked past each other in opinion columns and on news stations. Civil rights were still a hot

button issue despite the fact that Linden B Johnson had signed the Civil Rights Act three years before in 1964.

But none of this national turbulence

was evident in the Taylor household, where George Earl was. was

preoccupied with his personal troubles.
