Joe Martin, for those who didn't hear your first appearance on the powercast last year,

can you kind of take us back to how you got involved in this crazy business?

You have to be more specific.

Do you mean broadcasting or the paranormal?

Let's go for the paranormal.

Broadcasting has its own craziness that I dare not refer to.

The paranormal actually began because I was hosting a lateback talk show,

and the talk show was on a rock and roll station.

Now, those are supposed to be not compatible, to put it more likely.

You just don't find talk shows on rock stations now, nor did you in the 1970s,

or I guess about the early 70s.

What happened was that I had a major problem.

The problem was I wanted to get good ratings, and I'm trying to work out in my head what ideas and what subjects to do

because I have to somehow attract a young adult

audience, which is even more ridiculous for a talk show.

And so here I am trying to figure all of this out, and there was a teenager who worked

at the radio station, a very lovely girl who was a discockey, and we got wrong really well,

she was a very, very nice girl, girl Kathy came to me one day and said

hey Joel why don't you try doing some of those subjects that have to do with um psychic phenomena

and i said uh excuse me you know the truth is i did not even know what she was talking about

and she said you know ESP mental telepathy and said, oh, even that joke with a fortune telling.
