Good morning, everyone, the simple handicap for Wednesday, December 23rd.

Thank you for making me a part of your morning.

And it is a very, very stressful Thursday here in my house.

Yesterday decided to make a very large bet and take on a lot of risk, the majority of which

was unnecessary. If you're listening to the show and you are Latin American or you have a

girlfriend or wife that is Latin American, you will be able to relate to the explanation behind the bet, the risk, and the fear that I have

that's going to stick with me for the next 36 hours.

So my wife is from Columbia.

I lived with her in Medellin for a good four years. She grew up there.

She was born there. It came from very humble beginnings. And when you are from somewhere in

Latin America and you are a female, the most important day of the year is your birthday.

And I know that that tends to be the case for women of other cultures,

but there's something about Latin America, especially Colombia,

where the importance of the birthday is just magnified to the extreme.

And for the years that we live there together, as well as all the years prior to that where

she was growing up there, there was sort of a precedent set where the birthday every year was

a chance for her to go out and party and celebrate.

The problem is that her birthday is on December 24th, which in Colombia is the day that they

celebrate Christmas.

You go out with friends, you go out with families.

It's usually outside on the street in a big group and you're eating and you're drinking
