Summary

Happy 2023! Elric and Brian kick off the new year with a sort of response to the latest Sight and Sound List of the greatest films of all-time, by doing their own list of the Pure Cinema Canon of Great Films by listing two films each per decade from the 1920s on up to the 2020s. This was not an easy task but was a lot of fun and hopefully makes for an enjoyable discussion.

0:48.2	Well, every decade, sight and sound comes up with a definitive list of 100 movies that they call the 100 Greatest Films of All Time and it gets updated.

0:55.0	I feel like that last one was like four years ago my brain. Like I just remember it coming out and being like,
0:59.6	wow, Citizen Kane's no longer top and thinking that was a big deal at the time. It came out a few
1:04.8	days ago from when we were inspired to do this. So now a few weeks ago or whatever. And it caused a bit of controversy, I guess, or at least talking points.

1:23.3	I think they're really exciting and really fun those tens.

1:34.2	jean dielman uh by chantal akerman which i guess we had different reactions to but i guess my reaction
1:40.9	to it was a little frustrating for multiple reasons.
