Hey everyone, this is Moderate Rebels, and this is the third part and the final part of a lengthy live stream interview that I did with the Venezuelan journalist Diego Sequerra.

It was a really long live stream, so we decided to take that and divide it into more digestible sections.

In this section, Diego and I talk about the extreme propaganda campaigns targeting left-wing

democratically elected socialist governments in Latin America, especially Venezuela, the country

that he is from and lives in. Also, we talk about the demonization campaign

against the San Nista government in Nicaragua. We talk about the importance of food sovereignty,

something that not a lot of people in the global north and imperialist countries think about,

but the extreme importance of a country being able to control its own food production and how the Venezuelan

reliance on imports was one of the main reasons that the U.S. Empire was able to use the

blockade to suffocate the country, but how in Nicaragua, the Sandinista government, learned

from its own suffocating U.S. blockade and U.S. terrorist war

that it experienced in the 1980s, and how Nicaragua has learned from that experience,

and Cuba and Bolivia and other progressive forces in the region.

And then we finally, we conclude just talking about the importance of prioritizing the struggle

against imperialism

and how the U.S. left, the global north left, and Western Europe really needs to prioritize

anti-imperialism at the base of its politics. It's not just an issue. It is the fundamental

contradiction that anyone who considers themselves a progressive,

or even not just people who call themselves progressives, but people who care about sovereignty,

care about basic rights for people living in the global South, so they don't have to live

under the, just the iron boot, the spiked boot of the empire.
