What about the separation of church and state?

Some would call it, quote, the wall of separation.

And at this point, many people would be like,

but isn't, isn't there supposed to be a separation of church and state?

Let me explain to you just briefly,

since we're here and it's in the book,

how we got to the government we have, which I know it's not perfect,

but quite frankly it's better than most, when rightly exercised.

In 1620, the Mayflower Compact was put forth by Christian pilgrims.

Christian pilgrims driven by biblical convictions,

and they wanted to form self-government that was not

under tyranny and monarchy. So they were in England and they're under monarchy which is tyranny.

And they're saying we read the Bible, we have convictions,

the government does not allow us to exercise our religious convictions and to worship God freely.

We may need to leave our country, get our families in boats, through the peril of the sea,

many died,

go find another land and establish a new government

so that we can worship God freely.

Just think of that. Imagine that you're so committed to Jesus Christ

that you will risk your life and family

to go start an experiment in government

that gives you the freedom to live according to your conscience in the word of God.
