and today I'm chatting with author and speaker Jen Wilkin to say oh only the husband is supposed

to handle the instruction and the children in spiritual matters or his voice needs to

be the loudest voice.

I think that when we narrow it to be like the specific role instead of is he modeling

godliness on a daily basis in the home that that is a beautiful thing even if he never

ever leads family devotional if he is living a life of godliness and demonstrating that

he loves the Lord then why would we like guilt on him because his personality or his

gifting haven't placed him in that one specific role in the home.

But it is important for someone who like me never runs out of words to say have I prevented

him from opening up and joining the conversation just by the sheer force of my words.

This week's guest Jen Wilkin is the author of the book None Like Him and Women of the

Word had a study the Bible with both our hearts and our mind she writes over at the gospel

coalition and desiring god and today she and I are answering some questions that I've had.

One of those questions is what do you do if your husband is not the spiritual leader or

what if you are a single mom or a functionally single mom your husband is not a believer.

How do you handle that role of being a spiritual leader in your family?

We also talk about what if you hold some kind of leadership position in your church and

your community how to manage that well and Jenna has some great outside the box thinking

too on how to stay grounded in God's word even as young moms ones who often turn to

Instagram or social media for our spiritual insight and equipping how do we find ourselves

more looking to God and who he is and less doing our naval gazing and who we are.
