translated by Blake Stone Banks. Chen Kiefah was born in 1981 in China.

He is a graduate of Peking University and published his first short story in

1997 in science fiction world, China's largest science fiction

magazine.

In English, his short stories have been published in Clark's World, Light Speed, MIT Technology Review, Slate, and other venues.

His novel Waste Tide was published by Tour in 2019.

Our narrator is James Patrick Kelly. He has won the Hugo, Nebula, and Locust Awards. His

newest project is King of the Dogs, Queen of the Cats, a short novel, released in January 2020 from subterranean

press.

His most recent publication is The Collection The Promise of Space, published in 2018 from Prime

Books.

His novel Mother Go was an audible original in 2017.

He also writes a column on the internet for Asimov's science fiction magazine and recently

retired from faculty, The Stone Coast Creative Writing MFA program at the University of Southern Maine,

where he taught for 15 years.
