The risk of a U.S. debt default sends investors hunting for new safe havens.

Another day brings with it another round of talks in Washington, as White House and

Republican Congressional negotiators attempt to avoid a default on the U.S. debt.

They have just got days left to get a deal done, with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy saying

an agreement must be reached this week in order to have time for the legislation to pass

Congress.

Meanwhile, the current lack of a deal is making markets increasingly twitchy.
