power always corrupt or are there examples of leaders who've maintained their integrity

while an authority and how does the nature of power vary across different times and cultures?

These are just some of the questions that Mary and I will be trying to answer.

tough with China I am delighted though to be able to announce our speakers

for tonight. We've got a great lineup. Proposing the motion we have Tom Tuggenhart,

the Conservative MP for Tunbridge, Eden Bridge and

Maling and chair of the Commons Foreign Affairs Committee. He also leads the

China Research Group of Conservative MPs to promote fresh thinking about how Britain should respond to the rise of China.

Before becoming an MP, Tom was in the British Army and served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

And then speaking against the motion, I'm delighted to say we're joined by Keshaw Mabubani.

He was a Singaporean, former diplomat and academic.
