Summary

As the Harris and Trump campaigns negotiate whether candidates will be muted during the upcoming presidential debate, Jen Psaki reflects on how the more people hear from Donald Trump, the less they like. Don Lemon joins Jen to discuss the state of the presidential race and his new book "I Once Was Lost: My Search for God in America". Next, Ian Sams, senior advisor for the Harris-Walz campaign, joins the show to discuss topics including Trump's push for muted mics at the debate, the influx of Republicans endorsing Kamala Harris, and Trump's continued legal troubles. Later, Senator Elizabeth Warren joins Jen to discuss Kamala Harris' ambitious affordable housing plan and the Trump-Vance campaign's efforts to conceal their plans to ban abortion, among other topics. Finally, Jen breaks down the GOP's bizarre and baseless conspiracy theory about Tim Walz's dog.

of the presidential race right now.

I mean, it all started late last night when Donald Trump suggested he may skip the scheduled

1:00.1

September 10th ABC News debate. Yep, if you're taking keeping track here, that's the one he

1:05.3

already agreed to, then tried to back out of, then agreed to again. This time, he cooked up a new grievance against

1:12.3

ABC News as an excuse to weasel out of it, writing in a lengthy post I'm not going to bore you with,

1:18.3

but part of it was, why would I type debate against Kamala Harris on that network? If you didn't

1:24.7

buy that clear cop out from Trump, neither did the Harris campaign. Today, they actually

1:30.6

shared the behind the scenes back and forth they've been having with the Trump campaign over the

1:35.4

rules of that debate, and in particular, one specific rule. Basically, over whether or not the

1:42.5

candidate's microphone should be automatically muted when they are not speaking.

1:47.2

Brian Fallon, the spokesman for the Harris campaign, said this.

1:51.2

We have told ABC and other networks that we believe both candidates' mics should be live throughout the full broadcast.
