Summary

*This is part 2 of Deb Grant's episode. Though you are free to listen in whichever order you so desire we really do recommend listening to part 1 first or things might be slightly confusing*

Music plays an important role in pubs. Not only can it help set the right tone, it can also become the focal point of a night; especially if there's someone with musical expertise standing behind a set of decks. If you were to turn up to a pub and this week's guest was digging through her record crates then you'd know you're DEFINITELY in for a good time. Making their way into The Moon Under Water is DJ and broadcaster Deb Grant!

Deb regularly presents on Jazz FM and 6 Music, and can often be found DJing in some of London's coolest joints. And as a Dublin native she was lucky enough to grow up in one of the greatest pub cities in existence. But that doesn't mean her dream pub will include blaring music and pint after pint of Guinness; it might end up being something completely different... as we're sure you're about to find out.

0:38.2

you wouldn't just hear the baseline of that song, Robin Mansion.

0:43.3

Papa was a Rolling Stone.

0:44.1

Because I think one thing pubs really do skimp on is speaker quality.

0:50.7

Yeah, they almost sometimes look like those PC speakers you used to get.

0:55.1

They're sort of tiny little plastic guys and you think, come on, give me a bit of dynamic range, for goodness sake.

1:01.3

But before we left you, Robin had set us a rather haunting Moon underwater pub quiz.

1:06.9

So Robin, can we have the answers, please?

1:08.6

Yes, John.

1:09.3

Yeah, this week the pub quiz was about Thomas Hardy and The Cure.

1:14.0

I was giving you two titles in each question. You have to tell me which one was a cure song and which one is a Thomas Hardy poem.

1:20.3

So question one was a meeting with despair and the funeral party. Deb, what do you think for that one?

1:26.8

I think the second one is the cure.

1:31.3

Okay, dokey.

1:32.2

John, what do you think?

1:33.2

Yeah, I went the same at the funeral party as the cure.

1:36.3

You're both bang, right.

1:37.6

Yeah, that's a song from the Faith album.
