Authorities yesterday continued a desperate search to find those still missing after historic flash floods swept across central Texas late last week.

State and local authorities said at least 81 people have died. Among the dozens still missing

as of early this morning are 10 children and a counselor from Camp Mystic, a Christian girls camp

at the edge of the flooded Guadalupe River. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said on X that he visited the camp

and that it was ravaged in ways he had not seen in any natural disaster. He had similar

remarks during a news conference yesterday. It was nothing short of horrific to see what those young

children went through. And we will remain 100% dedicated searching for every single one of the

children who were at Camp Mystic as well as anybody else and the entire riverbed to make sure

that they're going to be recovered. It's still not clear how many children at the camp died,

but reports indicate an 8-year-old and a nine-year-old were killed.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency was activated in Texas after Trump declared a major disaster area in Kerr County following the flooding.

The president said he plans to visit Texas later this week.

After raising the prospect of abolishing FEMA earlier this year, President Trump deflected when asked if he wanted to phase out the agency.
