Hello. Good evening. Death Sex and Money. I just finished listening to the program with Joanne, where she was talking about aging. My daughter sent me a podcast about getting older. And she kept saying, did you listen? Did you listen? And so I listened tonight. And I see why she sent it to me.

So you want to know about aging? Okay, I'll tell you it's not all that fun. It's a great time of life.

I don't usually feel old at all.

But as I belly flop into 70. I much prefer to say, oh, I'm older. I just turned 65. I can't believe it. I don't feel like it. I feel like I'm about 10 unless my arthritis kicks up and then I feel about 100. It's almost as if I can't experience pleasure anymore, which is, again, just wild to me. I can't even wrap my head around it.

It is what it is, but...

I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in my 20s.

That's something I know.

I mean, do you remember, like, last year when they kept telling us 65 as the new 45?

At the start of 2020, a listener we're calling Laura moved to a new city by herself.

She's 67, like me, and she had big hopes for the next chapter of her life.

But just a week after moving,

she had a big health scare. And then the pandemic hit. I mean, that picture that's out there was out there until COVID was that, you know, you're going to reinvent yourself in these

certain ways and that this is going to be the most

fulfilling time. And I don't think it really is for everybody.

Tell me, how is this year different from what you imagined it would be?

It never occurred to me that I wasn't invincible or vulnerable because I had taken really good care of myself.

So I was just programmed to think that I was going to start another chapter of my life.

I was going to phase into retirement.

I was going to volunteer.

I was going to go to museums. I was looking forward to the freest, most independent, most fulfilling time of my life. And does that make you feel
