In my career as a prosecutor, I've been part of many long and winding cases.

Pretrial hearings deciding what evidence is and is not admissible.

Sometimes it seems like there are a million things

that can delay and even derail justice.

is how long it seems to take between the moment law

enforcement is convinced they know who committed a major crime and when that

person is tried, convicted, and ultimately punished.

And today's story is a perfect example of that long road to justice.

like any homicide case, it begins with a sudden and heartbreaking death,
