This week, NFL Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino, and a little bit of a curveball

for you, a political guest, NBC political director Chuck Todd. I just figured with the election so close,

let's have some news about what it's like to actually cover the presidential election.

But first, I asked Dean Blandino, does

Cam Newton have a point that he feels like he's under attack from past

rushers in the NFL.

No, he's not being officiated any differently

than any other quarterback.

The rules are the same for all quarterbacks.

And when you look at the numbers from 2013 until this week,

Cam has drawn nine roughness calls.

And that is in the upper tier of calls amongst the league in that same time period. And I asked Chuck Todd, why in the

world has Donald Trump risen so high, so fast in the 2016 presidential election.

The most impressionistic experience I had on the campaign trail came at the Iowa State Fair about a month after he announced.

And one guy said, I know who he is. I know he's kind of full of it.

But he's my middle finger to you. I think Michael Moore put it,

you know, Trump is a Molotov cocktail for a bunch of people that feel as if that system just doesn't work,

and that makes a lot of sense. Those conversations and a few thoughts for me right after this.
