As we were praying before this episode, I was thinking about how it is such a gift to, one, be

0:07.6

able to interact and communicate directly with our king, the creator of the universe, God,

0:14.1

and two, that he hears us and not just how we think he's hearing us, but he hears all of us entirely.

0:23.6

He's not selective in what he hears from us.

0:26.6

Right. And the reason we're kind of marveling at that is because this episode's all about selective hearing.

0:30.6

A few episodes back, we had talked about a time, and we'll rehash it a little bit here today,

0:36.6

where we had an argument that I think

0:39.1

we're currently kind of at an impasse still just because we're learning to understand one

0:44.1

another in different ways but I it had kind of put this on our radar like sometimes we hear

0:49.6

1:13.0

holy God of creation.

1:15.5

Like, he knows the motivations behind our prayers.

1:17.9

And so he's not just, I mean, I just think of like our four-year-old or even our one-a-half-year-old

1:22.5

who's just, you know, they want mind, mind, they just want whatever they see and they

1:27.2

petition for it so much. And I get annoyed in my human self, but God does not, right? He doesn't just say, okay, she just wants this, and this is all I'm hearing. And, you know, she doesn't actually want. And the reason for that is so profound. It's not just that God can see the deeper, better places in our hearts.

1:44.6

It's that he sees Christ covering us and he sees the righteousness of Christ. And Christ is there

1:49.9

at the throne contending for us and, you know, and making our prayers right before the righteous

1:58.0

father. Right. And so there's a very profound thing there.
