Summary

Sometimes our kids say things that feel like a punch in the gut and kick our fear/guilt response into high gear. The reality is that there could be a serious character issue that needs to be dealt with in them and other times they are just being foolish like children often are.  Make no mistake, God is working in these situations. The key is to take the time to see what He's doing and cooperate with that work. Whether the work is more in us or in them is worth taking the time to discover. Last week I mentioned that birthdays, holidays, and special occasions can bring to light certain negative behaviors in our kids that need to be addressed. Today I want to talk about dealing with a pessimistic, ungrateful child and some simple ways to address that. Hey, moms, welcome to this episode of the Dorenda Wilson podcast. I'm Dorenda Wilson,

0:15.2

wife to one, mom to eight, Nana to eight. Yes, you heard me right. There's another one on the way.

0:24.5

Woohoo! I'm also a 26-year veteran homeschooling mom, and I'm really thankful to be here today. I'm going to be talking

0:29.3

about dealing with a pessimistic gimmee child. Anybody out there have one of those? You know,

0:35.7

sometimes around the holidays or right after the holidays or around a birthday or right after a birthday or a vacation.

0:45.3

You know, any time when kids has sort of been blessed with more than they normally get,

0:53.1

we often find ourselves dealing with a pessimistic gimme

0:58.8

child. That's what I would call it. A complainer. I'm ungrateful. We'll be talking more about

1:08.3

that in just a minute. But before I dive in to this topic, I'd really

1:12.2

love for you to check out the four-hour school day, how you and your kids can thrive in the

1:18.1

homeschool life. This is my most recent publication. And it's really all about

1:24.9

broadening your perspective on education so that you can really embrace the freedom

1:31.6

that homeschooling has to offer. It's also a great argument for why homeschooling doesn't have to

1:38.7

take all day. So go check that out on Amazon. You can also purchase it at my website, Duranda Wilson.com, or probably any

1:47.5

of your favorite booksellers. Also, I wrote The Unhurried Homestooler, a simple, mercifully short book on

1:53.8

homeschooling. Highly recommend that for new homeschooling moms who are maybe overwhelmed with

1:59.9

information, and you'd like someone to just

2:02.4

get to the point. And the third book that I wrote is called, and this is not necessarily in that

2:07.4

order, Unhurried Grace for a mom's heart. It's a 31-day devotional. And it's really a great

2:15.4

Kickstarter to get you back in the word for a doable amount of time each day.

2:20.6

Moms are busy, right?

2:21.9

But we still need to be in the Word.
