Hello, thank you so much for getting in touch to say that a well-known streaming service

has said that newscast was one of your most listened to podcasts on their platform.

And if you don't know what I'm talking about, it's Spotify who've been emailing all

Spotify users, the little digest of what podcasts they've listened to, and also what songs

they've been listening to this year. Mine was totally predictable.

Yes, my top artists were Lady Gaga, Girls Aloud, Abba, Coldplay, and Bizarrely,

Merrill Streep, although there are reasons for that. Anyway, this whole thing is called

Spotify Unwrapped, so we've decided to do newscast unwrapped. And we got Ben,

our resident stato on the team, to do a spreadsheet, analyzing all the titles of newscast

episodes this year to see what trends we could glean. So it turns out 60 episodes this year

had titles dedicated to COVID and health, 50 were dedicated to politics, 29 were about

home affairs, and you know when we sometimes have a big interview with, I don't know,

just for argument's sake, Prince William, and we put their name in the title, that happened

18 times, and then the next biggest subject was environment and climate change, which got 16

episode titles. Then we applied a complex algorithm to work out which percentage of those titles

had a pun in them, and it was 54%. What's more surprising is that 46% of them didn't have a pun

in them. So that's newscast 2021 unwrapped for you, and thank you again for getting in touch

if Spotify unwrapped newscast is one of your top podcasts. Should we do a new episode of it right

now? Newscast, newscast from the baby say that we'll take some time before we figure out what our

new normal is. Now if that is the argument then we are going into unprecedented territory.
