In the US state of Georgia, the start of the academic year has been

disfigured by another fatal shooting of teenagers in a place where they should have been safe.

Their school.

The incident at Appalachian High prompted President Joe Biden to say, we cannot continue to accept

this as normal.

It was condemned by the Democrat candidate for president, the Vice President

Kamler Harris, and in the last few moments by the Republican candidate, the former President

Donald Trump, who called the school shooter sick and a deranged monster.

Well the first formal confirmation of the shooting was delivered in this short statement by the local sheriff Judd Smith.

We're standing on the campus of Appalachian High School here at Bear County Schools.

First and foremost, I want to lift up our community.

I want to give our sympathies to our community, our school system, our kids, our parents,

that had to witness this today.

Obviously, what you see behind us is a evil thing today.

At about 9.30 this morning, we received the first call that there was an active shooter on this campus.

We're not releasing any information as far as injuries but we have multiple injuries.

Well that was later confirmed with the number of fatalities as well.
