We begin this evening in Central Africa, where countries are working to contain an Ebola outbreak that has been declared an international emergency.

At least 100 deaths have been reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with more than 390 cases suspected.

There are also two confirmed cases and one death in Uganda, according to the US centres for disease control and prevention.

The health authorities in the DRC say an American doctor

is among the latest confirmed caters of Ebola in the east of the country.

This current strain of Ebola is caused by the Bundibudu virus,

for which there are no approved drugs or vaccines.

Samuel Roger Camber Molaamba is the DRC's Minister of Public Health.

People in the community said it was witchcraft.

Now we realise that the first person fell ill in late April and died.

The body was repatriated to a nearby

town. It was the return of this body to a mining area with a large population that caused the

Ebola outbreak to escalate. Trish Newport is MSF's emergency program manager. She says no one was

preparing for an outbreak of this size and it is a huge challenge for her teams on the ground.

There's very limited testing capacity because this strain, it's only the third outbreak ever.

So testing capacity is limited.

So we say there's suspect cases, and we just have to assume from epidemiological links

if they actually have Ebola or not at this moment.

So we have one project in Bunya.
