Good morning. It's Sunday, December 14th. We're following breaking news this hour out of Providence, Rhode Island. Two people were killed and nine others were injured during a shooting last night on the campus of Brown University. As of this morning, seven of the injured are in stable condition. One is in critical but stable condition,

and one has been discharged from the hospital. Just this morning, local law enforcement

detained a person of interest, a male in his 30s, who was caught in this video, dressed

all in black. The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, but the city's shelter

in place has been lifted. During this morning's latest update from city officials, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley

spoke about the sad reality for both students and city officials of being prepared for an event like this.

Any of us in leadership capacities have had to think about this.

We have a generation of kids

who have done active shooter trainings.

That was not something I had to do when I was a kid.

And we all...

I think maybe intellectually,

we knew it could happen anywhere, including here,

but that's not the same as it happening in our community.

And so this is an incredibly upsetting and emotional time.

The shooter opened fire in a classroom on the first floor of the University Engineering and Physics Building where an economics class was taking place. Some students sought refuge in a campus library where they remained

barricaded for hours. Brown University sophomore, Isaac Dahan, was one of those students. MS now spoke

with him after the shooting. We were barricaded for about like seven hours

and the first couple of hours

a lot of worry.
