Summary

As we come to the end of the Days Between, and reflect on what Jerry gave us I thought it appropriate to present a classic show from when the band was young and ferocious. This comes to us from August 6, 1971 at the Hollywood Palladium. Long considered a classic, I'm sure you'll agree if you haven't yet been fortunate enough to hear this performance.

This first set contains no clunkers.. I think each of these songs is a top-notch rendition, but for sure I have to point out 'Mr. Charlie' and 'Cumberland Blues'.. but the highlight here is clearly the great version of 'Hard to Handle'.. Pigpen is at his finest ...

0:06.0	Been 29 years since we lost jury,
0:08.0	but I decided that's a good reason to bring you a stellar show this week. This one comes to us from the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California, August 6, 1971.
0:20.0	Parts of this show have been released on Dickix Pix and on Road Trip's Bonus Disc,
0:25.0	but the whole show has never been released and I believe it deserves to be so.
0:29.0	And anyway, my sources and what's on those discs anyway.
0:33.4	So I'm going to play the whole show.
0:35.3	I'm going to say, I have set one this week,
0:36.6	it's set two next week.
0:38.2	Set one has some blistering versions of great songs.
0:41.5	Starts out with Bertha.
0:42.6	Then we have a very nice playing in the band.
0:45.6	Loozer, Mr. Charlie is great, really tight.
0:49.1	El Paso, Cumberland Blues, broke down Palace there in the the first set me and Bobby McGee, and then what some think is think or claim is the best version of hard to handle ever.
1:00.0	The rumor has it that Garcia dropped to his knees during the Jams climax.
1:07.0	We'll see about that. I don't know, but I'll pass it along anyway.
1:11.0	Casey Jones ends the set and then be prepared for next week when we play the second set which
1:16.3	even is even more fantastic. So thanks for picking us up this week and for your support of
