Summary

Here's a fun and happy Sunday show on this week's Deadpod - from the Shoreline Amphitheater on August 18, 1991. This first set features a very fine 'Jack-A-Roe' and some great piano work by Bruce Hornsby on 'CC Rider'. Jerry also brings out the Dylan cover 'It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry' which made its appearance this summer. One of the highlights of the set is Bobby seemingly forgetting the words to 'Beat It On Down the Line'...later in that song, Hornsby creates a 'false stop' and you hear the band talking about it before a short reprise :) A great 'Johnny B. Goode' ends the set..

Last of a run there at the Shoreline and the boys have a lot of fun on this day. I think you'll

0:22.2

enjoy it. It starts out with a great Hell in the Bucket. Jack O'Roe follows and it's really

0:26.1

nicely done. CC Rider, a fine version of that with a lot of great piano work from Bruce. Into it

0:32.8

takes a lot of laugh. It takes a train to cry. They delincover that they broke out that year that

0:37.7

was everybody appreciated. Then beat it on down the line follows and Bobby has a brain fart,

0:44.1

stops right before the song starts. Everybody gets a good laugh out of that, but they do get started again.

0:49.8

The interesting thing here is at the end of that song, Bruce does a fall sending. He

0:58.5

has a brain fart and the band sort of falls along. It's kind of a cool ending, but it's different.

1:04.7

Then we go into West Delay fade away when I paint my masterpiece staggerly and they close set

1:09.2

one with a pretty fine version of Johnny B Good. The band has a lot of energy here. I think it's

1:14.7

kind of a hometown show and they're very relaxed and I think you'll enjoy it. Hope so.
