Hello and welcome to the dead pod for the week of July 24th 2008 this is a professor I'm so glad you could pick us up this week

This week I'm going to bring you a show really in honor of the fact that we just had the

Unhappy anniversary of Brent Midland's last show with The Grateful Dead and to mark that occasion I'm going to play a great show with

Brett Midland one in which Brent was really out front one of the early days

of his tenure with the band. This one comes to us from September 2nd, 1979, Augusta Civic

Center, Augusta, Maine.

This week we're going to hear the first set, then I'll play the second set next week.

I think you're going to really enjoy how up front Brent is on all these songs and how his new energy or the energy that he brings to the band at this time really

shows itself in some old tunes like Minglewood,

Jackaro, even they love each other in Mama Tried.

These are great tunes and Brent's really out front on all of them.

And I think you'll enjoy this.
