Summary

A great second set from July 18, 1976 from the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco is on the table for this week's Deadpod. You'll have plenty to choose from here, as the boys stretch it out and deliver a smorgasbord of many of their best songs on this two hour marathon. There are too many highlights to mention all of them, but I would call your attention to the fine 'Lazy Lightning>Supplication>Let It Grow' trifecta that occurs early in the set - Jerry lays down some extremely interesting notes here unlike most renditions of this song. The Wharf Rat starts spacey and lonely - just like it should.. the massive 'Other One>Saint Stephen>Not Fade Away>Saint Stephen' is notable for the slower pace of Stephen - it sounds mighty fine here. We're not done with the Other One though, as it reappears after the Wheel with the third verse. A long and beautiful Stella Blue follows then a great Sugar Magnolia to end the second set (finally!). The band returns, for what else, Johnny B. Goode.

The second set starts out with an up-tempo might as well, a great Samstan Delilah.

0:23.4

Jerry slows things down a bit with Candyman, but then they come back with one of the highlights of the

0:27.6

set, a lazy lightning supplication, let it grow trifecta.

0:31.5

And that supplication contains some gerry's work that is quite unique.

0:36.4

I haven't heard it there ever before or since.

Threat really quite nicely done.

0:41.7

They have to take a little break with some drums and

0:43.8

they come back with a nice jam, spacy jam into a as always kind of sad war frat

really nicely done. Then some more jams a little bit of more

jamming and then a little more drums and then they go into the other one

0:58.7

the other one leads into a nice Saint Stephen they really it's a nice lazy Saint Stephen as was the ilk in that year of

1:06.4

1976 when they brought it back and to not fade away back into St Stephen for a minute. Then they go into the wheel, back into the other one,

1:15.0

and then a beautiful long still a blue.

1:19.0

They close the set with a great sugar magnolia.
