Summary

A summer solstice show to celebrate the arrival of summer, this comes to us from the band's only trip to Alaska back on June 21, 1980. This first set opens with a strong 'Sugaree', and Jerry continues to light it up on the Minglewood that follows. In fact most of these first set songs are quite strong and fast paced, I'd particularly call your attention to the 'Lazy Lightni'>Supplication', Brent's work on 'Far From Me' and the closing 'Feel Like a Stranger' all of which really work well.

1980 was a very good year, in my opinion, and while this may not be one of the very best shows of the year, it is a pleasure to listen to and I hope you enjoy it.. We'll have the second set next week.

0:06.1	This week I want to bring you a show of long meant to play
0:10.6	is from the summer solstice of 1980. June 21st, 1980 took place back in
0:15.7	probably the last high school gym that the dead ever played in,
0:19.4	West High Auditorium, Anchorage, Alaska.
0:22.3	Was it Saturday night? This was the last of a run of shows
0:26.8	that took place in Alaska. Of course, it was a band's only appearance
0:29.7	up there, but really nice run and a great show, I think.
0:33.3	It's going to start out with a wonderful sugary.
0:35.7	Jerry really lights it up on this one, I think you'll enjoy it.
0:38.7	In the new Minglewood Blues with the obligatory line about these
0:43.6	laskin girls, then Candyman, me and my uncle and the big river.
0:47.3	It's very nicely done, loser, and a lazy light and
0:50.5	supplication is very well done, and a far for me that
0:53.3	Brent really plays and sings quite well on, especially at the
0:56.7	end, it really takes off. Ramlon Rose follows an
0:59.5	in a great field like a stranger, ends this first set.
1:02.7	We'll play set two next week. I think you'll find this one quite
1:05.9	enjoyable. Many 1980 shows are, but this was kind of a special run,
1:10.8	and this is kind of a special show out of that run.
