This week's Deadpod features another fabulous show from 1973. This week's show comes shortly after the death of Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan on the 8th of February 1973, and is the 2nd night of a three night run at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale NY, on March 16, 1973.
Folks this is a massive 14 song first set, and the come out of the gate flying with a high energy 'China>Rider', complete with a great, perhaps the first, 'feelin' groovy' jam in the transition. The new 'Wave That Flag' follows with some nice keyboard work from Keith. A fine version of 'Looks Like Rain' follows, introduced with a nice intro from Phil. There are highlights throughout the rest of this set, including an early version of 'They Love Each Other' but the closing 'Playin' In the Band' is sure to bring some smiles....

| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to Deadbot for the week of March the 3rd, 2023. This is Professor Armstrong, |
| 0:04.5 | so glad he could pick us up this week. Whenever I think, oh, surely I'm out of great shows to play, |
| 0:12.7 | I look a little harder and find one that really deserves a spotlight. And this week I'm |
| 0:17.8 | going to bring you one from that great year, 1973. This comes to us from March 16th, 1973, |
| 0:24.3 | NASA, Coliseum, CM Union, Dale, and New York. Despite the fact that the police and security were |
| 0:30.2 | infamously bad, this is a great show. It starts out with a real fun Bill Graham introduction, |
| 0:36.1 | then a great China writer. We got a 14 song for a set, folks. This is typical 73 great stuff here. |
| 0:43.6 | Jack Straw follows, well done. Then the early version waved that flag. We're does a fine |
| 0:50.3 | version. I look like rain to follow, ramblon rose, filled as box of rainy flubs of lyric there, |
| 0:55.6 | but it's inconsequential. Still nice to hear. Beaded on down, aligned follows, an early version |
| 1:03.1 | of they love each other. They really do a nice job on this one. El Paso, Ro Jimmy, |
| 1:08.3 | Mexicali blues, and they close with a bird song into playing in the band. It's like an 11-12-minute |
| 1:15.0 | plane in the band to close a set. This is really fine for set. I think you'll enjoy it. If you're a fan |
| 1:21.1 | of this period of the grateful dead, and if you're listening to me, I'm sure you are, |
| 1:26.4 | you're going to find this to be a fine and fascinating set. So thanks for picking us up this |
| 1:31.8 | weekend for your support of the dead pod. I couldn't do it without you. Hope this finds you well, |
| 1:36.8 | and we'll see you back here next week. This is a professor you're listening to the dead pod. |
| 1:45.0 | What do you want to do? |
| 1:58.2 | Ladies and gentlemen, Bill Graham. For the new and old members of the fan club, |
| 2:03.2 | we'd like to introduce some of the boys individually on piano Mr. Keith Gutshell. |
| 2:06.6 | Unlead guitar and focus, Mr. Jerry Garcia. |
| 2:16.8 | Andrum is Mr. Bill Crightsman. |
