Summary

This week's Deadpod features a Rex Benefit from March 13, 1985 at the Berkeley Community Theater.

It starts out with a smoking 'Jack Straw', this is quite a pleasure to hear. 'Althea' follows; here Jerry's voice is not in the best of shape, but as is often the case in '85 his playing throughout this first set is quite inspired. The cowboy combo of 'Mama Tried>Mexicali' follows and features both a nice extended jam and some excellent additions by Brent. 'Friend of the Devil' is very nicely done and Jerry sounds much better here. 'Minglewood' has the first Matt Kelly addition, Brent again has a nice solo. The set-closing Deal is high energy as usual to close the short first set.

0:04.5	so glad you could pick us up this week. This week I'm going to bring you a wax benefit that
0:08.8	took place back at the Brookley Community Theatre in Brookley, California. March the 13th, 1985.
0:15.3	Short first set, but still a very nice show, very well played, I think in a lot of ways,
0:20.0	and interesting, interesting. First set starts out with a great jack straw. Then we have Althea
0:25.2	slows things down a little bit, jack straw is really up temple and quite well done. Jerry's voice
0:29.8	a little rough at times, he does flubble air cure, but still it's all right. Mama tried into
0:35.2	Max Kelly Blues follows. This one features some real nice guitar playing on it. Friend of the devil
0:40.8	is quite well done, it follows. Newminglewood Blues has Matt Kelly on harmonica. He sits in on a
0:48.9	few songs in the second set as well. He also sits in on the set closing deal. Matt Kelly and
0:54.9	the harmonica sounds a bit out of place on deal, but nevertheless it's not bad and Jerry does a
