Hello and welcome to Dead Pod for the week of February 19th 2016.

This is a professor I'm so glad to get this week.

Decided to go back to one of my favorite years, Peak Dead, February of 1973 for this week's Dead Pod.

This comes to us from Assembly Hall, University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois,

one of my favorite college towns.

We get to hear the boys performed from February 22nd, 1973. We'll hear the first

set this week or what exists of the first set. There's a few songs missing. I'll tell you about

those in a minute. They

start out with a really rock and Promised Land, then a nicely done. They love each

other. El Paso follows very, very sprightly and well done, listening for Phil on that one. A great bird song follows Jerry does some very nice solos on that one.

Mexicali Blues follows then Deal. Looks like rain, Tennessee Jed, Box of Rain. Phil does a pretty stellar job

on vocals on this one. I think you'll enjoy it. Followed by a 17 minute version of playing in the band where the band really shows off their jazzy chops

and I think you'll enjoy it. I know I sure do. We'll try to get into set two next week. I want to thank you for picking us up and for your

support of the dead pod. I couldn't bring you the dead pod without it. I

really appreciate your support. It's what makes the dead pod possible. So

thanks for that. Hope you are have a great weekend, closing in on the end of this month and hopefully the

end of winter.
