Summary

This week another fabulous version of Playing In the Band from 1972... this one is a real monster - Phil and Jerry trade some really intense leads and while this is not the only reason to listen to this set (recently re-mastered by Charlie Miller) its probably the highlight.. I think its certainly worthy of a listen and hope you do as well!

0:04.2	This is a professor, I'm so glad you can pick this up this week.
0:08.1	This week I'm bringing you a set.
0:09.3	It's just a second set.
0:11.1	It was recently re-released. Charlie Miller brought it out.
0:14.0	Redid it with some pitch correction and it's really a fine sounding tape.
0:21.5	This comes to us from November 18th, 1972, Hawth Heights Pavilion in
0:26.1	Houston, Texas. Very interesting second set, unusual set list, and there's a lot of
0:31.6	dynamics going on in the playing
0:33.2	and I find really interesting.
0:35.0	It starts out with Bertha and the greatest story ever told then he's gone,
0:38.8	jackstraw deal and then probably the highlight of this set
0:41.7	a magnificent playing in the band.
0:44.0	The band is really on fire in this legend. Garcia really trade licks throughout and
0:50.0	it's punctuated at one point with Kreutzman doing a great bit on the drums.
0:55.0	You'll have to listen for that.
0:56.0	You'll really like this one, I think.
0:58.0	Then they follow with Mississippi Half Step, and then Sugar Magnolia and one more Saturday night.
1:02.0	They come back for an encore Uncle John's band.
1:04.8	It's a great performance and really a fabulous show from 40 years ago. I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit.
