Summary

This week another fabulous version of Playing In the Band from 1972... this one is a real monster - Phil and Jerry trade some really intense leads and while this is not the only reason to listen to this set (recently re-mastered by Charlie Miller) its probably the highlight.. I think its certainly worthy of a listen and hope you do as well!

It was recently re-released. Charlie Miller brought it out.

Redid it with some pitch correction and it's really a fine sounding tape.

This comes to us from November 18th, 1972, Hawth Heights Pavilion in

Houston, Texas. Very interesting second set, unusual set list, and there's a lot of

dynamics going on in the playing

and I find really interesting.

It starts out with Bertha and the greatest story ever told then he's gone,

jackstraw deal and then probably the highlight of this set

a magnificent playing in the band.

The band is really on fire in this legend. Garcia really trade licks throughout and

it's punctuated at one point with Kreutzman doing a great bit on the drums.
