Hello and welcome to Dead Pod for the week of November the 5th 2010 this is a professor I'm so glad you could pick us up this week

decided to bring you a show from an era I always associate with the fall for some reason

1972 this comes to us from the fabulous Fox Theater in St. Louis, Missouri, a venue

the dead quite liked, and they did a three-night run there in October of 1972. We're going to pick the middle of that night, middle

night of that run this evening and listen to the first set. Next week we'll bring you the second

set which includes a marvelous dark star.

Tonight's show will start with most of the first set.

Bertha, me and my uncle, don't ease me and me in.

Mexicali Blues, brown-eyed women, beat it on down the line, a fabulous bird song. I really like this, and I think if you listen closely, you'll hear some elements of some later compositions inside it. Big River Ler, Jack Straw, and then a smoking hot big railroad

blues, El Paso. And the first set closes with a wonderful China rider.
