Summary

This week the Deadpod continues with the second set from January 13, 1978 at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara California. This was a 'Stop Nuclear Power' benefit and as usual at these kind of events, I think the band was charged up for it and I think it shows in the energy of this great second set.

They start off with a rousing 'Bertha' into 'Good Lovin'. Donna follows with a nice version of 'Sunrise' then they go into a long and interesting 'Dancin' In the Streets' highlighted with some dueling riffs by Jerry and Phil. The 'Drums' that follows is particularly intense and uptempo. Jerry then goes into a long 'Wharf Rat' which at the end builds to another peak as it leads into an unusual 'Truckin', then again to a very uptempo 'Around and Around' to finish the set. Another change of pace follows with a 'Sugar Magnolia' encore.

0:06.9	This week we continue with the second set of the band's performance at the Arlington Theater
0:10.8	in Santa Barbara, California, January 13th, 1978, it was Friday night,
0:16.0	and it was a benefit to stop nuclear power.
0:18.6	As usual, when the dead played benefits, I think they did a pretty fine job this evening.
0:23.2	It starts out with a up-temple, really up-temple, bertha, and a good loving.
0:27.4	So it's a great up-temple start.
0:30.4	Donna continues with a really nice version of sunrise.
0:32.8	I think she does a nice job throughout this set.
0:35.5	This is a nice kind of a treat.
0:37.8	They then move into a really great dance industry.
0:40.2	It's nice and long, it's quite energetic,
0:43.4	and leads into a wild drums.
0:45.4	Phil drops some great bombs there that I think you'll like.
0:48.4	Jerry and Phil trade some licks in that dance, and that's really quite sweet as well.
0:53.3	They then go into a nice long work frat.
0:55.2	Jerry does a really fine job on that.
0:58.1	Wines it up towards the end into an unusual transition into trucking,
1:03.7	and then they close the set with an up-temple around and around.
1:07.2	They come back with an unusual sugar magnolia encor.
1:09.7	It's really well done, quite energetic as well.
