Summary

Furnace Fest means so much to so many different people. From the bands who performed, to the fans who attended. All voices in the Labeled community have truly gathered around this Festival in a deeply meaningful way.

Today we're talking to Jason Zeimet, founder of UnoriginalVinyl, frequent collaborators on physical media projects with Solid State & Tooth & Nail, and former T&N/SS Director of A&R Chad Johnson about a timeless, totally unique project.

In this intimate, vulnerable chat, the guys detail the process of creating DEAD ALIVE, a limited edition, hardcover, foil stamped, 200-page coffee-table book they have created that captures the electrifying photographic history and "direct-from-the-fan & band" accounts of the most uniquely-spirited music gathering in the last 20+ years.

There is a very limited amount of these books available so you'll want to make sure you head to Unoriginal Vinyl at 12 EST on Wednesday, 8/17 to grab a copy before they're gone: https://unoriginal-vinyl.myshopify.com/

32 EXTREMELY limited edition “alternate cover” exclusive vinyl versions of the three UOV Furnace Fest 2021 releases will also be put up with the book, in partnership with Solid State Records.

I'm your host, Matt Carter.

And today we've got a unique episode, and that is a conversation with Chad Johnson of Furnace Fest and Jason from unoriginal vinyl and me to discuss the upcoming Furnace Fest and the launch of a very special coffee table book, which is a beautiful physical book that you're

0:22.1

going to want to own, and also the tooth and nail vinyl releases that will be exclusive to

0:27.1

Furnace Fest this year. So let me tell you a little bit more about what this book is because

0:30.9

it's nuts. It's a hardcover foil stamped 200-page coffee table book that captures the

0:37.1

photographic and verbal accounts from both

0:39.8

bands and fans of Furnace Fest.

0:43.0

Ryan Clark helped to develop the concept and did the design work, and it's really incredible.

0:48.4

Jason from unoriginal vinyl had the idea and put the whole thing together, and I was honored

0:52.8

to be asked by him to write the foreword.

0:55.4

So that's really cool.

0:56.4

And I'm very proud that the labeled podcast and the listeners and the community have become people who are known to be preservers and supporters and continuers of this scene.

1:06.1

So that's all really cool.

1:08.0

Jason, of course, is the founder of unoriginal vinyl.

1:10.7

And he's worked his ass off to

1:12.2

create most of the cool tooth-and-nail vinyl reissues that exist, especially the ones over the last

1:16.6

few years. And he goes to really painstaking detail to make things special. And he's driven by, like,

1:21.6

a very pure motive to make special things exist that have deep meaning. And he does that really well with physical things like vinyl.

1:29.9

And this book is just like a deeper version of that same concept.

1:34.2

And Chad Johnson also has a really similar and quirky drive too to take huge risk to make

1:39.2

special things happen over and over again.
