That was everyone's favorite tonight's show host, Jay Leno, which reminds me of another

tonight's show host, famously introducing another band on the show, Couple Decades,

Prior, which brings me to the following theory, DC Talk is the Beatles of Christian music.

So let's backtrack it.

Toby McKeyin and Michael Tate began their musical collaboration shortly after meeting

a Jerry Falwell's Liberty University back in the 80s, and it should be noted that Toby's

nickname at the time was DC Talk, because he was from Washington, DC.

Like Evan McSmith joined the boys they called themselves DC Talk in the one way crew.

Ultimately, simplified back to DC Talk, which they redefined as decent Christian talk in

a masterstroke of branding.

Their subtitled debut and sophomore follow-up new thing did well enough for the band.

Their third album was Free at Lash, and using the Beatles' lines here, this was their help.

The album, that was a version of everything they had done before, but the best possible

version of it, fusing together rap, rock, and soul in a manner that was a joyful noise

to the Lord.

If the B.C. boys were cool church camp counselors, they'd be DC Talk.

The album blew up, went platinum, and it would pave the way for their next two smash-hit
