Officials say they're not expecting to find any survivors from last night's mid-air collision

between an American Airlines passenger jet and a U.S. Army helicopter.

64 people were on board the plane from Wichita, Kansas, which was coming into land at Reagan

National Airport near Washington, D.C.,

while there were three soldiers on the Black Hawk training flight.

Rescue workers spent the night searching the Potomac River, where both of the aircraft fell.

But officials say they have now turned to a recovery operation, and dozens of bodies have been pulled from the water.

Air traffic control audio published by LiveATC.net captured people describing the incident.

I just saw a fireball and then it was just gone.

I haven't seen anything since the river, but it was a CRJ and a helicopter that hit.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says both aircraft were following routine flight patterns.

U.S. Senators have previously expressed concern about airspace congestion around Reagan National Airport,

but they said it's not the time for criticism as families are still being informed.
