All right, everybody. Welcome back to another edition of The Teardown.

My name is Jeff Glockham with my coworker Jordan Bianchi.

We are motorsports writers for The Athletic, and we're here to talk about the Daytona International Speedway race, the regular season finale, which Jordan is currently watching

the final few laps because he was out on pit road during all of us.

We have just completed our post-race coverage from the garage fresh out of there and just

digesting everything that happened.

This is Jordan's first look at the replay here.

Ryan Blaney goes from 13th to first in two laps, pairing up with Cole Custer.

Didn't quite work out for Cole Custer in the end there.

But the, I think, five drivers behind Ryan Blaney all needed to win to make the playoffs.

They were all eliminated by just this much as Ryan Blaney gets it done and puts Alex

Bowman into the playoffs when it looked like all hope was lost for Alex Bowman.

What a thrilling, spectacular final run

there and a great regular season finale. This is sort of everything you're looking for out of this

race. Five of the top seven finishers in this race had not won a race this year. Any of those top

five win, they move on. This is why I advocate for the win

in your end. This was exciting because it was so dramatic and how this unfolds. At various

points, you had a handful of different drivers who had not want to race and were looking to punch

their playoff ticket. And it just, it was wild. It was this wild swing. And all the while, you've got a driver from a powerhouse organization and Alex Bowman who's sitting there watching this in the hauler, agonizing over this. And at different points, it is like, is sweating this out going, wait, we're going to be okay. So-and-so's leading. Oh, no, this guy's now leading and we're in trouble. And at the end there, it's like, okay, Kyle Larson's making a big move. Go, Kyle. And no, and then it's just Haley or Cole Custer. And then you're ruined for Ryan Blaney. And by the way, Alex Bowman says he owes, Alex Bowman says he owns Ryan Blaney seven million beers for winning tonight.

Seven million beers, I believe is what he said.

I have to go back and listen, but I believe it was seven million beers.
