A day in the life of a 911 dispatcher can be filled with just about anything you can think of.

It's a roller coaster from start to finish.

One morning you can go in there and sit down and not take a single call for the first 15 or 20 minutes you get there.

The next morning you can almost immediately sit down and someone has woke up and found their

spouse dead.

Or there's some beef going on between spouses and one of them stab each other.

Or there's a random shooting on the street somewhere early 6.30 a.m.

It happens all the time.

But there's a lot of calls that come in, and they're absolutely nothing special about them.

They're just very normal calls.

You answer questions.

Not all these are on 911.

Most agencies they take 911 calls and the non-emergency calls.

Today, we're going to have a wide range of calls. We're going to have some non-emergency calls. Today we're going to have a wide range of calls. We're going to have some non-emergency

calls. A couple of them I took myself. We're also going to have some very high-stress emergency calls

and a couple others that are kind of mixed in the middle of it. We're going to start off with one that is,

in the big scheme of things, kind of a more boring call.

This is the majority of what we take, though. It's just questions or it's something that's

non-life-threatening, just something that's a question coming in from a citizen on how to do something

or something along that lines. This first call is one that I actually took. There's not too much

special about the call.
