Summary

Our producer Jonathan Mitchell has directed a new project.

Day of Days is a six-part podcast series from Walking Cinema that recounts a meeting between Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Black mystic Howard Thurman, as King was recovering from a stabbing in Harlem in 1958. That meeting brought King face-to-face with the demons pursuing him since the Montgomery bus boycotts, and revolutionized his approach to the fledgling Civil Rights Movement.

Jonathan directed, sound designed, and wrote the original music for the series, which was created by Michael Epstein of Walking Cinema, and written by Darren Canady.

0:04.3	stories for you guys for the past year and a half or so, but we have been working on other things,
0:09.3	and I wanted to share something that I've been working on for the past six months. It's a new
0:13.7	six-part audio drama podcast series called Day of Days from a production company called Walking Cinema.
0:20.3	It was written by Darren Kennedy,
0:22.2	and I directed, sound designed, and wrote all the original music for it. And today, we're
0:27.7	going to play the first half of episode one. Now, this is based on a true story that revolves
0:33.2	around the Civil Rights Movement. In 1958, Martin Luther King Jr. was stabbed in the chest by a deranged
0:40.2	woman at a Harlem book signing. This is very early in his career. It's about 10 years before he was
0:45.2	killed. And while he was recovering in the hospital, King met with a man named Howard Thurman.
0:51.8	Many of you know who he is, but a lot of you might not. And if you
0:55.3	don't know about Howard Thurman, this series is a great way to get to know him. He's a very
0:59.4	interesting man. He was a theologian who also was looking for alternatives to organized religion
1:05.2	and looking for ways of bringing people together through spirituality.
