| 0:00.0 | Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble and I'm your host for the Bible Recap. |
| 0:07.0 | We finished the 18th book in our New Testament plan and the 57th book in our whole Bible plan. |
| 0:18.0 | Paul wrote this letter today to his friend and co-worker who had been assigned to do ministry on a Greek island. |
| 0:24.0 | Tough job, but for real it wasn't exactly a cakewalk. |
| 0:27.4 | The people on the island of Crete have a challenging culture that goes against the |
| 0:30.6 | grain of Christ's teachings, and all of this is being reinforced by some |
| 0:34.0 | local leaders who are apparently on a power trip. |
| 0:36.9 | So it's not all sunsets and suvlocki for our friend Titus. |

| 1:02.0 | note what advice makes both books |
| 1:04.0 | because that gives us an idea of what things are situational and what things are |
| 1:07.4 | universal. First, Paul gives Titus guidelines for how to choose elders, the people |
| 1:12.3 | who will be the governing board of leaders over the |
| 1:14.3 | church and its decisions. It's vital that they reflect Christ not just in their doctrine but in their |
| 1:19.2 | lives as well because people are going to be looking to them for guidance and truth. |
| 1:23.0 | In addition to that, an elder not only has to know the truth and teach it, but he has to be |
| 1:27.2 | willing to correct those in the church who teach it wrongly. |
| 1:30.1 | This is a big problem in the church at Crete. |
