0:00.0	Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble and I'm your host for the Bible Recap. Yesterday in Acts 18 we met the people of the church in Corinth.
0:17.0	Paul went there on a missionary tour and stuck around for 18 months.
0:20.1	He likes to check in on them from time to time and he sends them letters in response to what he hears.
0:24.0	Before he wrote 1st Corinthians, he wrote them another letter that we haven't found.
0:28.0	We call it 0 Corinthians.
0:30.0	He references it in the sexual read tomorrow.
0:32.0	Then at some point later he sent this letter,
0:34.4	First Corinthians, to address some really upsetting problems
0:37.2	had been hearing about, as well as some questions they had.
0:39.7	Before we jump in, this is your friendly reminder to slow down when you're reading Paul's intros.
0:44.3	They aren't fluff, they are steeped in theology.
0:47.2	Okay, here we go.
0:48.4	Paul spends a lot of time in this letter correcting things the Corinthian Church is doing and
0:52.1	believing.
0:52.9	It carries the weight of a rebuke.
0:55.0	But he opens with some encouraging reminders before launching into the problem areas.
0:59.2	In 1-7 through 9, he says that Jesus will sustain them to the end and will make them guiltless.
1:05.0	He says that since God is the one who called them into his family to begin with, God will be the
1:08.7	one to keep them there.
1:10.0	Because what God initiates, he will sustain, and he will fulfill.
1:13.4	When you're about to be confronted with all your sin, it's nice to be reminded that
1:17.2	none of it changes the way God views you.
