0:07.0	John is the only gospel writer who records the remarkable story we read today.
0:17.0	Jesus raised lots of people from the dead, but since John was a part of Jesus'
0:20.8	inner circle, it's possible that this particular instance was more of a big deal to him personally, because he probably knew Lazarus, Mary, and Martha.
0:29.0	By the way, you may recognize Mary and Martha, the sisters we read about in Luke 10.
0:33.0	But this Lazarus is different from the Lazarus we read about yesterday.
0:37.0	Lazarus gets sick and the sisters sin for Jesus.
0:40.0	But he just keeps at what he's doing and is like,
0:42.0	I'm not worried about it
0:42.9	this illness isn't going to lead to death it's going to be used to glorify God
0:46.4	and technically Lazarus does die but he just doesn't stay dead so Jesus still knows what he's
0:51.5	talking about here but I'm getting ahead of myself.
0:54.0	Jesus doesn't go to their house right away. He stays two more days before heading there.
0:58.0	His delay has to be excruciating for Mary and Martha and possibly confusing for his disciples.
1:04.0	We'll come back to this, so put a pen in it.
1:07.0	The disciples don't want to go to Bethany where the family lives,
1:09.0	because the people there are always trying to kill Jesus.
1:12.0	It's just about two miles east of Jerusalem.
1:14.4	But Jesus knows it's not time for him to die, and in fact it's time for Lazarus to un-die,
1:19.8	so they pack up and head to Bethany. By the way, I love the statement from Thomas here. I can't
1:25.3	tell if he's truly committed and is enthusiastic when he says, let us also go that we may
1:30.0	die with him. Or if it's more sarcastic like, let us also go that we may die with him. Like, you
