0:07.0	John the Baptist has been in prison since approximately the start of Jesus
0:16.6	ministry. Herod Antipas arrested him after he rebuked Herod for marrying
0:20.9	his brother's wife who is named Herod
0:22.8	because she's actually the granddaughter of King Herod the Great which means
0:26.8	both of her husbands are also her uncles. Okay. She wants J.T. dead, but Herod is torn.
0:34.0	When Herod's birthday party rolls around, the daughter of Herod's
0:37.5	does a little dance for him as a part of the event.
0:39.5	In ancient Greco-Roman culture, the dance is done at these parties tend to be more on the seductive
0:44.7	side if you catch my drift.
0:46.4	So it's super inappropriate that Herod's stepdaughter slash great niece is the entertainment. Herod loves it, of course, and makes the grand gesture of offering her anything she wants.
0:57.0	It seems likely that Herodias was using her own daughter as a pawn in order to achieve this very outcome.
1:03.0	Herodias tells her daughter,
1:05.0	hey, I know you had your heart set on a pony, but hear me out.
1:08.0	How's about you ask for the head of a prisoner instead?
1:12.0	Can you imagine? So because of the sins of the king and the
1:16.2	selfish plotting of his wife, John the Baptist is beheaded in prison. He dies an
1:21.5	unjust death. The very one Jesus hinted at not long ago when JTB sent
1:26.5	him a message asking him if he really was the Messiah. After Herod kills JTB, he starts
1:32.1	getting word of all the miraculous things Jesus is doing and he's super confused because he sees a lot of similarities in these two guys.
1:39.0	He's left wondering if Jesus is the ghost or the resurrection of JTB because of how their ministries run along the same
1:45.2	trajectory. Some people even suggest that Jesus is the resurrected Elijah because of the types
