0:07.0	Today, we recounted the story of the paralytic man whose friends carried him to Jesus
0:16.7	for healing.
0:17.7	We first read this story in Luke 5 and Mark 2.
0:20.6	Luke's and Mark's accounts of the people's response are consistent with each other, but
0:24.0	they seem to vary from what we read from Matthew to day.
0:27.0	Luke said, Amazement sees them all and they glorify God and were filled with awe.
0:32.2	And Mark said, they were all amazed in glorified God, but today, Matthew says something that
0:37.2	seems to contradict that.
0:38.7	He says, When the crowds saw it, they were afraid and they glorified God.
0:43.2	So which is it?
0:44.2	Were they amazed or were they afraid?
0:45.8	Yes, there's no contradiction in these accounts and here's why.

0:54.7	When Scripture tells God's kids to fear Him, it isn't about terror.

1:01.5	That's contradictory to God's entire objective of drawing near to His people.
1:05.8	The kind of fear Scripture describes when it talks about fearing God actually conveys
1:10.1	reverence and awe.
1:11.8	It's joy adjacent.
1:13.4	It has the effect of drawing us to God, not away from Him.
