| 0:00.0 | Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble and I'm your host for the Bible Recap. |
| 0:07.0 | Today we dropped out on a new gospel, Matthew, and even though he's a new gospel to us in our reading plan, he's quite possibly the oldest of the four Gospels. |
| 0:21.0 | Most people believe this is Matthew the Apostle |
| 0:23.4 | slash disciple of Jesus who was a tax collector before Jesus called him. |
| 0:27.2 | Given his attention to numbers and money and return on investment, it seems likely. |

| 1:16.0 | also includes Gentiles. That's any non-Jew, and it includes people with scandalous histories. |
| 1:22.4 | For instance, rehab had been a pagan and it includes people with scandalous histories. |
| 1:22.6 | For instance, rehab had been a pagan prostitute, |
| 1:26.1 | and we don't have time to go into all the stuff |
| 1:27.9 | David and Solomon did. |
| 1:29.5 | The message God sends in this genealogy is one of redemption. He says, you belong here in my family. |
