Summary

As we begin praying three decades together, Fr. Mark-Mary shares insight on why we’re moving into a focus on prayer in this phase of the Rosary in a Year podcast. We’re encouraged to lean into our meditation archive, drawing on the depth of the mysteries we’ve been dwelling on. By strengthening our focus and attention, we grow in our ability to remain present in prayer.
Today’s focus is the mysteries of the Agony in the Garden, the Scourging at the Pillar, and the Crowning with Thorns. We will be praying three decades of the Rosary.

1:00.3

We finished up our time of having the focused two decades of prayer. And today we're going to move to three decades.

1:08.8

And we'll pray the first three sorrowful mysteries, the agony in the

1:12.8

garden, the scourging at the pillar, and the crowning with thorns. Now again, the worldview

1:20.3

behind building up the decades is it's twofold. It's at the service of just being able to be a little bit slower and go deeper,

1:31.9

but also it's a response to those who maybe struggle to pay attention, those who want to, if you will,

1:38.9

strengthen or need to strengthen their concentration muscle, which is part of the foundation of this extended

1:45.7

meditative prayer that we are doing and praying the rosary. I do think, again, as I mentioned,

1:50.3

very early on, for a lot of folks praying five decades at a time, it's just really difficult,

1:55.4

but I do believe that we can build up the muscle. And so we are intentionally at this point, backing up as far as what I am saying to you,

2:03.8

kind of the input of new information at the service of you kind of putting into practice and

2:08.6

bringing to prayer what you have already received. So there's going to be again kind of less

2:13.3

from me, less guidance from me, less teaching or reflections from me, confident that you have

2:21.1

what you need at your disposal. And then we're just going to continue this journey of praying together

2:25.8

and praying up the decades, confident that this is transformative for us, salvific for us,

2:32.6

and a source of grace for the whole world.
