Summary

We enter a new chapter examining the dignity of the human person, and Article 1 shows us that we have dignity because we are made in the image and likeness of God. We preserve that dignity when we exercise virtue and charity, and we do violence to it when we commit sin and evil acts. Fr. Mike hones in on the bold statement that we as humans are “the only creature on earth that God has willed for its own sake.” Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 1699-1715.

0:51.2	1699 to 1715, which sounds like a lot, but there's some nuggets at the end here. We have just
0:57.1	one section just introducing chapter one, the dignity of the human person, article, man in the
1:02.8	image of God, which is what we're going to talk about. And tomorrow, we'll talk about article
1:06.1	two, our vocation to be added to it. And so there's this it's kind of like this intro that the
1:10.8	church gives us. And setting the stage, kind of like yesterday, set the stage where it's like,
1:14.4	well, here's the high call. Everything begins with Jesus. It ends with Jesus. The fact that God has
1:18.6	made us into his sons and daughters means we're called to more. And so here, the church today
1:23.8	it says, okay, so this is the vocation life in the spirit. And this begins with the dignity of
1:29.1	the human person. You're made in the image and likeness of God. And because you've been redeemed,
1:34.4	because God has poured out his Holy Spirit into you, that we have to live in a certain way.
1:40.4	And so we're going to talk about, in fact, paragraph 1700, it's going to break down articles one
